Are there any Benefits of Olive Leaf Extract for Skin?

Let me tell you a quick story.  The benefits of olive leaf extract may include a reduced risk of heart disease and certain kinds of cancer.  The oils are healthy, as well, but are pressed from the fruits and the pits.  They are not made from the leaves.

So, there are different nutritional components of each.  Both the oils and the leaves have some antioxidant activity.  The olive leaf benefit is most often related to that antioxidant activity.

The oils contain essential polyunsaturated fatty acids, known as omega-3s.  Increasing your omega-3 intake, while reducing your intake of saturated, trans-fats and omega-6 fatty acids may reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer.

Pauling never differentiated between the different forms of vitamin C.  The latest research indicates that the most readily absorbed and the best for our health are Ascorbyl Palmitate and Calcium Ascorbate, rather than the more common ascorbic acid, which can cause stomach irritation.

It is a source of micronutrients, so-named because they are present in only very small amounts in the diet, but they could be highly beneficial.  Unlike “macronutrients”, which include essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, micronutrients are not found in a variety of foods and they are not often ingredients in your daily health supplement.

Some of the other micronutrients include lutein and zeaxanthin, which are found mostly in kale and other dark leafy greens.  Research indicates that increased intake of those micronutrients reduces the risk of age-related macular degeneration, the most common cause of blindness in the elderly.

Not only is consuming the micronutrients beneficial, research indicates that applying some of them directly works, too.  For example, a kind of seaweed called wakame is highly valued as a health food.  Research indicates that the micronutrients found in it, when applied directly, slow down one of the causes of an aged appearance.
